ABOUT THE ROLE

The Red County Fire Department is seeking motivated, service-oriented individuals to join our Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Division as EMS Trainees. This entry-level role is designed for candidates aspiring to become certified Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) and future leaders in emergency medical response.

Candidates will undergo a rigorous, department-sponsored EMT training program. Upon successful completion and certification, candidates may advance to EMT – Basic positions within the department.

Key Functions and Responsibilities

  • Attend and complete an accredited EMT training program sponsored by the department
  • Develop knowledge and skills in:
    - Emergency medical care and patient transport
    - CPR, trauma response, and airway management
    - Use and maintenance of medical equipment and ambulances
    - Radio communications and emergency protocols
    - Patient assessment, documentation, and hand-off procedures
  • Participate in hands-on field training under the supervision of certified EMS personnel
  • Maintain physical fitness, professionalism, and composure in high-stress situations
  • Uphold the standards and mission of the Red County Fire Department

Minimum Requirements

Must be at least 18 years of age

Possession of a valid California Class C driver’s license

High school diploma or GED equivalent

U.S. Citizen or legal resident authorized to work in the United States

Ability to pass a background check, medical exam, drug screening, and psychological evaluation

Physically and mentally fit to perform EMS duties (lifting, patient care, prolonged standing)

(( Use of Discord platform; ))

(( Possession of at least one character that is Level 3 or over; ))

(( No recent or excessive admin record on any character. Recent is typically defined as one month/30 days, with excessive records being determined case-to-case; ))

(( Ability to roleplay in a realistic fashion with proper portrayal of a U.S. firefighter. ))

Desirable Qualifications

Current CPR certification (AHA or Red Cross)

Prior coursework in Health Sciences or First Aid

Volunteer or work experience in a healthcare or public safety setting

Bilingual abilities

Strong interpersonal communication skills
