Treatment Narrative
Upon arrival on scene the patient was verbal although not alert and complained of a laceration to his lower abdomen. Upon further inspection it was quickly determined that the patient had some sort of medical procedure, to which the wound matched that of a nephrectomy. The wound was very quickly packed and whilst packing it was further determined that the patient was missing one of his kidneys. The patient was quickly sedated and intubated to control both the pain as well as the pulse of the patient. The patient had consistent bradycardia which was remedied with transcutaneous pacing. A large bore IV was established into the left AC and the patient was given tranexamic acid as it was unclear if the procedure had resulted in internal bleeding. After a re-evaluation of the heart rate with a twelve lead ECG, the patient was transported by Medic 1 to CMM where the patient eventually recovered.
