(( IMPORTANT — CHARACTER PORTRAYAL AND EXPECTATIONS — READ BEFORE APPLYING ))

INTRODUCTION
This topic serves the purpose of outlining expectations for interested applicants for the Red County Fire Department. If your character is not compliant with these guidelines, we will not move forward with your application. Your character must also fit the IC requirements that are outlined in the job listing of the role you are applying for.

First and foremost we are seeking realistic characters. The Red County Fire Department portrays the environment it takes place in. A fire department in a predominantly rural/wildland-urban interface fire department. Our organization is not similar to that of the RCFD mimics of the past aiming to portray something in Los Angeles County. But something that is more realistically proportionate for our membership numbers and allows us the freedom to do what we need to do for our members to exist comfortably on the server.

We highly encourage passive roleplay, this faction is not called 24/7. The passive interactions that you experience every single day with the various people friends and strangers alike- make your life feel alive and special. We aspire to provide that same feeling for our characters. Examples of this include company-level training, washing apparatus, going to the store to buy food than cooking it at the station, mopping the floors, blowing out the bays, going to a community event just to get out of the firehouse. Anything spontaneous and passive is highly encouraged!

CHARACTER STORY
Joining the faction and applying with some prior knowledge and/or experience in Firefighter or pre-hospital EMS is not frowned upon, but you will need to make it fit in your character story. Any training that you claim to have will require you to provide proof during the hiring process.

Military service is extremely common in first responders, though we urge you to research what you're roleplaying. Branches, ages, ranks, and your MOS that your character all had to be included in your story is critical, this will be looked into on our end. Most college degrees are 4 years on average, and the most common military contract length is 4 years in the United States, you'd need to be no younger than 22 to be applying with such experience.

With that said, you do NOT need to possess any prior knowledge. The RCFD offers manuals, field training, and various forms of additional materials along with training in-game to encourage people who have never done this to join in on the fun. We value knowledge and experience, but taking that step of doing something new is how we all gain that knowledge and experience.

Please keep in mind, you will be participating in roleplay that can be considered emotional, bloody, or gory in detail.

ASSETS AND SECOND JOBS
Public servants are typically severely underpaid even in the "rich" state of California where salaries are as high as they are due to the exorbitant cost of living. The way that the RCRP script works, you will in some circumstances have more money than you'd realistically have- despite this, you are not able to spend all of it. The vision for your character should not involve an incredibly nice house or extremely nice cars unless you obtain an incredibly high rank within the organization as salary jumps significantly as time with the faction goes on.

Businesses - Are incredibly expensive to start and expensive in upkeep. Things such as a business are incredibly time-consuming and would result in you either not having time for your regular shift or only working the minimum of your 53-hour work week in the game due to having to consider taxes, paperwork, accounting, and your employees. First responders typically work a 24 or 48-hour shift where they are there the entire time. Your time spent off work is most commonly spent resting, doing laundry, and meal prepping, with limited free/off time. There are exceptions to this and should you be dead set on owning a business please contact Chief Officers for a way to make this a realistic option.

Houses - Can also be incredibly expensive to keep up with in addition to the mortgage, utility bills, and other luxuries that come in the form of a bill. Furniture, maintenance, security costs, etc all add up monthly. We understand that just like in real life, everyone has differing circumstances and consider that, however, it is best to avoid owning anything incredibly expensive to avoid any issues with character portrayal. We suggest that members reach certain criteria before owning houses in Mulholland, Bayside, or various over $850,000 plus homes.

Vehicles - Also have earned an honorable mention. GTA San Andreas does take place during the 90s so that is to be taken in mind. Most vehicles now even in the base model offer incredible amenities that were considered to only be luxurious 10 to 15 years ago. Vehicles are looked at based on their vehicle classification, not IRL counterparts to avoid any issue or confusion. Sports cars, supercars, boats, and aircraft are highly frowned upon.

Second Jobs - Secondary income or side jobs are permitted within the faction. It's very common for firefighters to take on another blue-collar job such as trucking, roofing, fencing, lawn care, power washing, etc. in their spare time to make ends meet, this is incredibly common. Faction leadership reserves the right to intervene and potentially part ways with a character if they are roleplaying a second job that may be harmful to the faction.

CHARACTER BEHAVIOR
Any character who is viewed as insane, childish, overly sexualized, or weed/anime based will not be considered and are strictly prohibited from the faction. The RCFD is seeking out the common lay-person and blue collar employee to make up the demographics of our faction. At this time to avoid any issues in the future, the RCFD is not accepting anyone roleplaying a transgender character.

If you're found to be lying about your character story, development, or personality you will be terminated from the faction
