ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
As a Emergency Transport Technician with the Red County Fire Department, you work under the direct supervision of an EMS Supervisor, the key responsibilities for this position will be as followed;
Providing Basic Life Support (BLS), driving and staffing ambulances while responding to emergency 911 calls, assessing patients, providing emergency treatment and making diagnoses, dressing wounds/injuries, using specialist equipment including defibrillators, transporting patients to hospital and continuing to provide treatment while in transit, providing hospital staff with patient information including condition and treatment, helping provide patient care in hospitals and other medical facilities, communicating effectively with patients and their relatives/friends, teaching and training members of the public to use first aid techniques correctly.
You can also progress your medical skillsets further by taking the AEMT or Paramedic course, both of which are not mandatory but highly recommended. You can also transfer into the Firefighter role, by taking the respective training and recompleting a Probationary phase if you wanted.
Be aware, that the Red County Fire Department has the right to deny any candidate for the role, throughout any part of the recruitment process, as they deem necessary. Reasoning behind denial is revealed at the discretion of Recruitment and Training Command. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- • Must be at least 18 years of age;
• Possession of a high school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED);
• No experience required;
• Possession of valid GVL-1 and GVL-2 Driver Licenses or out of state equivalent.
• (( No recent or excessive admin record on any character. Recent is typically defined as one month/30 days, with excessive records being determined case-to-case; ))
• (( Use of Discord platform; ))
• (( Possession of at least one character that is Level 3 or over; ))
• (( Ability to roleplay in a realistic fashion with proper portrayal of a U.S. firefighter / EMT ))
SELECTION PROCEDURES:
- 1. ONLINE APPLICATION: Recruitment & Training Division will screen all applications for minimum qualifications as listed above.
2. ORAL INTERVIEW: An interview is held for the candidate with randomized questions by a Recruitment & Training officer, which will be held at a fire station designated by the recruitment officer.
3. PHYSICAL FITNESS ASSESSMENT: Candidate must complete a comprehensive Pre-Academy Physical Fitness Assessment.
4. MEDICAL EXAMINATION: Candidates selected for further consideration must pass a medical examination before beginning the Fire Academy. The medical exam is conducted through RCFD’s designated physician which includes drug and alcohol testing (( This step is NPC'ed )).
5. EMS ACADEMY: EMT Trainees complete a 16-week classroom and physical fitness program that includes EMT training modules (( This step is NPC'ed )).
6. EXAMINATIONS: EMT Trainees attend National Registry Emergency Medical Technician Examination (NREMT).
